Home Decor

This is a little different to the usual beauty and fashion posts but lately I've been paying more attention on how i want to decorate my room, I've gone from not caring too much, to having it all red and black, and now I've finally realised i'm a bit of a girly girly when it comes to decorating so I've been buying bits here and there to complete my room and wanted to share some with you.

First of are fairy lights, i love them and i think they make the room look so cosy and complete when its dark, that i have a fair few of them, I have some multi-coloured ones through the head board of my bed, as it is metal it looks nice wrapped around and adds colour to the black, i then draped some round my whiteboard but you could always do this round picture frames. Another place where i love to put them is if you have any cute jars or vases, is inside as when you turn them on it gives off a really good effect in the dark, I got this jar with a butterfly on from next for only£4, so super cheap but looks great and it comes in lots of different colours.

Second thing is notice boards, pin boards, white boards etc, i have a white board which is from staples, i love having this as if i get any ideas i just jot them down and they're always there so they're great for creativity and sometimes it's nice because people can leave you messages. I also have a pin board which is definitely covered in a lot of things, you could make it more organised but mine has become a little crazy, I use this as place for memorabilia, i usually put all my concert ticket or bands on there to remember everywhere i've been.

Having lots of makeup means i needed a place to keep it all, and i found this cute vintage style draw set from matalan where i keep most of it, although i may be upgrading soon as it seems to be overflowing, but its great with the 4 draws as i can keep things separated and know where they are.

This is just a piece of furniture i picked up as i think its really handy, it is a storage space where i have my tv on top, but with all the different holes you can display all different things, and its great for items like consoles, DVD's and books. This one i picked up from a place called B&M but i'm sure you can find very similar things at a good price in IKEA too.

Everyday Makeup Base

I've recently bought a new foundation and primer and my everyday makeup base of foundation, concealer etc has been changing so i'm going to share my routine and ideas.

Primer - Rimmel stay matte
I apply this to my face first as a base layer and helps to control the oil in my skin and keep my makeup on longer.
I recently purchased this one as i wanted to try a new primer out and with offers on in superdrug i thought why not, i think it works really well, applies well to the skin and overall a good primer.

Concealer - Collection 2000, fair
This concealer i use on top of the primer for under the eyes and on any very red blemish areas such as on my chin and a little on my cheeks.

Foundation - Rimmel match perfection, ivory
Brush - Real techniques exper face brush
I then apply my foundation all over my face, i use one pump on the back of my hand and gradually work it into the skin in circular motions with the expert face brush.
This foundation is not the heaviest of coverage but i wanted something lighter for the summer and warmer months and this is great, you can build it up if needed and blends really well in the skin.

Concealer - Mac studio finish, NW15
After foundation i use this concealer over any blemish or red areas left to get rid of any last marks.
This is my favourite concealer, it blends in really well and has great coverage over an blemishes, and for what looks like a small pot it lasts a very long time so it is good for it's money.

Powder - Rimmel stay matte powder
To finish everything off and hold my makeup i use this powder, it helps my makeup stay on all day whilst i'm at college and keeps my oily skin at bay.

This is just my everyday base that i apply and then i will change up and adapt the look depending on the blusher, bronzer and eye wear etc.

Favourite April Products

At the beginning of April and during Easter we had some lovely weather and i really started to feel ready for when summer would be here and all my exams would be finished, now unfortunately i'm back at college and all it has done is rain, but during this month i have had lots of new favourite products that i wanted to share. I've tried to chose one from each area such as an eye shadow, a lipstick e.t.c.

Mac eye shadow - Steamy
To start this eye shadow is the most amazing colour, if applied lightly it gives just a subtle green but can be layered to create a lovely metallic green colour, I love this colour at the moment for nicer weather. This has a frost finish so it has a metallic sheen to it and a slight shimmer.

Tanya Burr lip gloss - Exotic island
I wanted to buy some of Tanya Burrs new products and this was the one i ordered but was quite worried as it looks very bright, however it is my favourite, when applied it really isn't as bright as you may think, it is a lovely pink tone, has a glossy shine but it is not too sticky and applies really well with the applicator.

Collection 2000 lipstick - Pretty please
This lipstick i have had for ages and every so often it still comes out, but with this great weather its my favourite at the moment, the colour is a pink coral, not too bright so great for everyday and is perfect for the sun, It applies really well to the lips but would need re-applying through out the day.

Rimmel 60 seconds nail varnish - Fifty shades of pink
This nail varnish i actually got for free on an offer, and from the name i though pink, no, i don't like pink but who would turn down a free bargain, when actually I love this colour, It's not too pink at all, its a lovely deep pink/red. I have lots of this brand and they really do dry quickly and they are really easy to take off after too.

Marc Jacobs perfume - Honey
This perfume is by far my favourite for a while, i got this as a christmas present and have been using it since and still love it, It has a sweet scent which is nice and the packaging is just very cute with the bees.

Witch hazel blemish gel
This is non makeup related but i wanted to put it in there none the less as it is a great product, I suffered from a mild acne and been on medication but now i have started to get it again across my chin and cheeks so i picked up this and it has been working, it obviously hasn't got rid of it but this is a clear jel I apply every night to troubled areas and it helps to dry it and reduce it.

DIY - Bow Jumper

This is a new little thing that I'm thinking about starting, DIY posts maybe once every two weeks. I know lots of people do this already and this post in particular i got inspired by Marzia as i have re-designed my jumper and added bows to the back.

You will need:
- An old jumper
- Pieces of ribbon
- Needle and thread
- scissors

To start of with i tied all my pieces of ribbon into little bows, you could make them as a big as you wanted and any colour you liked, i chose white to match my jumper but you could chose a contrast colour to make it stand out.

I then sorted where i would put the bows on the back of the jumper and mark out how long the cut will be with tailors chalk, but you could use a pencil, and then cut with scissors.

For this next part i used a sewing machine as it was quicker but you could do it by hand if you preferred, i turned the jumper inside out and folded each side of the cut back and sewed it to make a hem and stop the jumper from fraying.

Then with a needle and thread, i chose white thread to make it as invisible as possible on the jumper, I sowed the bows down the back of jumper bringing the whole together in even intervals.

With this jumper the sleeves where too tight so i cut a small slit up from the wrist and rolled it up and hand sewed on the seem to keep it together, this help open the sleeve and make it a little different.

Tanya Burr's Lips And Nails

I finally managed to purchase some of Tanya Burr's lip glosses and nail varnishes, and just by using them for a day i already fell in love with them. I only purchased 2 of each but i will definitely be buying more.

In the lip glosses, i bought exotic island which is a bright pink/purple and i love it, I was slightly scared it would come out a lot brighter on the lip than it does, but i'm rather glad it doesn't, its a beautiful pink tone with lots of shine. The second was Champagne toast, its a really neutral colour with a little bit of sparkle and shine, great for everyday if you want to wear something but without standing out. The lip gloss itself are amazing, they have a great consistency of not being to sticky or runny, the applicator is lovely and soft making its easy to apply.

The nail polishes i bought are bright and early, a pink coral, great for spring to add a pop of colour to any outfit. Then midnight sparkle which is a deep black purple colour, it has a slight sparkle in which can be seen if it catches the light sometimes, would look great for an evening look. The nail polishes apply easily without being to gloopy or runny, i feel you probably need two coats to make it opaque but i do this with most anyway, the colours are left bold when dried. The only thing i would prefer is if the brush is a little bigger, but that's only a preference, it doesn't fault the nail polish one bit.

Hope you enjoyed and i would love to hear your comments down below.
