Review - Mac Foundation And Powder

I recently purchased a Mac foundation and powder and after using them for a little while i decided to do a review on them for anyone who is interested.

Mac pro longwear foundation - £25

To start i have never bought a high end foundation as i refuse to pay the price, but lately I've just not been happy with any that i have tried to use, the most success i have had is from Rimmel match perfection which i do still occasionally use, So i as pay day happened i thought today will be the day i try a mac foundation as my sister and friend Charlotte said i should.

I had a skin match done and the man was very kind in the shop to help me chose the right shade and foundation, this has a good medium coverage and covers my blemishes well, and is also build able if you're looking for a fuller covered look which is nice for a night out etc. It has matte finish which is something i always go for. Sometimes i find it hard to blend as it is matte but then that's probably just me, but overall it is a great foundation and i would definitely recommend this.

Mac studio fix powder - £21.50

For a very long time i have used the Rimmel stay matte powder as it is a very good high street product, but after getting my makeup done i wanted to try this out as it was amazing. This is a powder and foundation in one, so it says. I use it after applying foundation and concealer, it helps fix all makeup into place whilst keeping the matte finish, as it has a foundation part to it, it is great to take on a day/night out, as you can apply it through out when foundation has started to wear.

For just the powder i would stick to my Rimmel product but as this has a foundation part too i think it is great really does help to cover any blemishes when they start to show through after a long day.

Top 4 Makeup Brushes

Most of my makeup brushes are from the same brands, 3 in-particular which are Mac, Real techniques and Elf, this would have been a post on my top 5 brushes but i couldn't chose between them all for a 5th so kept it at my 4 favourite and most used brushes. Three of them are for eyes and the last is a face brush.

 Mac - 217

I recently just purchased this brush because of how much everyone always talks about it and i love it too, it is really soft so applies eye shadow really well. It works great for blending colours together and softening the edges too. This brush is one of my more expensive ones at £16 as for someone who only works Saturday this is a luxury but i love it and will definitely be trying some different Mac brushes too.

Elf - Crease brush

Firstly this brush is great for its price at only £1.95 so it is super affordable but it works well for a cheaper brand. The quality of the brush is good and works really well for applying eye shadow to the crease to blend out and i also like using this for my inner corner too as it has a smaller head.

Real techniques - Shading brush

This works really well for applying eye shadow all over the lid, with the compact bristles it picks up lots of pigment to give a bold colour. This brush is only £7.99 so not overly expensive, a good price range in between, these are easy to pick up as they're sold in most or all drug stores.

Real techniques - Expert face brush

Again this is a real techniques brush, i think this brand is just great, they're are very consistent with good results, i use this for my foundation and it blends well into the skin not leaving streak marks and at only £9.99 it is a good price.

Spring Makeup

Spring is on its way, and the sun has finally started to shine for a few days, so i took this opportunity to create a new spring makeup look. I wouldn't wear this on an everyday basis to school but if i was doing something special i would definitely go for this. It involves a blue and green blended eye with big lashes, a slight blush to the cheek with some bronzer and lovely pink/nude tone lip.

Valenintes Week - Smokey Eye Make-up

So this is my last post for valentines week which is a little bit late as it is now Sunday and valentines day was Friday, but i wanted to share my make-up that i wore on Thursday, I went out with some friends for a valentines social from college. I decided to do a grey and black smokey eyes, an attempted cat eye which i am bad at, and a bright red lip for valentines.

How Much Does Your Face Cost?

I have seen a number of different people do this type of tag, and as I went out this weekend after completing my makeup I got wandering on how much does my face actually cost for a night out. So yes i decided to join the club and do this tag too.

- Mac eye shadow - honey lust and espresso - £20

- No7 beautifully matte foundation - Warm Ivory - £12.95

I am quite shocked on this result as I know it could be a lot better, but I have seen others which are more, so doesn't make me feel too bad. Also this is not what I would wear every day, this is normally for a night out or if i'm feeling fancy for the day. 

I would love to do this again once i have started university in September as I know I wont be earning money or at least, not as much and will definitely have to cut down on the make-up spending to be able to feed myself and live.

Face Masks

I know I haven't done a post in a long time, well just over a week, but it's christmas and I've been very busy with family and school so I will let myself off. Anyway, I have recently just bought a face mask from lush as I really wanted to try one out to see if it would help my skin at all. I had a look at them all and, the one I liked the sound of the most was, cupcake, which is a chocolate face mask, it says it is great for younger skin and those with oily or spotty skin.

I have only used this face mask 2 times at the moment, but I love it already. It left my face feeling really nice and cleansed afterwards. I think it really helped with some oilyness of my skin, It helped dry out my spots and left my skin feeling smooth afterwards.

This is definitely something to remember as in the shop I was asked on different occasions what my skin type was as they have had people by it just because it is chocolate, not knowing it can really dry your skin out if you have dry skin already.

The face mask is made from all natural ingredients which to start off with I did not like as it means the face mask itself is quite bitty, and found it hard to apply the first time, however this does not hold the product back as I love it regardless, I think it smells amazing and it is really easy to wash off with no mess at all. I will definitely be purchasing this again when It runs out.

Make-up look for £10

I'm 17 in college, with a just a Saturday job, Even though I love my high end make-up brands, sometimes i just can't afford it, but there are some great drug store alternatives that I like just as much. I thought id put this together to show you that you can create a whole make-up look in just about £10.

To start off one of my best products in this is the MUA pallet I have, This costs just £4 and there are some great colours with multi uses. I used the purple colour all over the lids and blended this out with a black in the crease and on the outer corner to smoke it out a little, I then used the creamy shimmer colour on the inner corner of my eyes and it works perfectly. As well as this I used the black eye shadow to line my top lashes.

I used the super size collection 2000 mascara in black, this costs just £2.99 and works really well, making them look long and curled.

Finally for my face I used the natural collection shine away foundation, this is just £1.99 so really great and affordable. As I have oily skin I would normally use a matte foundation, but for a cheaper option I use this, it does help to reduce any shine I get on my skin but it is not really matte like others I use, however I think it works just as great but does not last as long. To the keep this all in place I finished by using the Rimmel stay matte powder for just £3.99.

Hope you liked this little post and I proved that you can have nice make-up and create some good looks with just about £10. I suppose I cheated a little as this does not include the brushes I used, but as for make-up I hope this was useful. xxx

Winged Smokey Eye

Today I wanted to try some of my new make-up from ELF, all of that will be in a post soon along with some reviews, but what better than a little make-up look that maybe you could re-create too. I have tried a blue smokey eye effect with a small winged eye liner, along with a red lip.

For this look the make-up I used was:

- MUA eye shadow, in a light and dark blue and a little black on the outside

- ELF longwear lipliner in bitter

- ELF lipstick in gypsy

Eyebrow Mayhem

Most people will fill in their eyebrows on a day to day basis, make them fuller, change the shape slightly. Me however, I have to create my eyebrows everyday. As of summer I began to realise my eyebrows were getting thinner and thinner, Until I realised the ends of my eyebrows were almost gone. I came to the conclusion that without even realising at all, I was picking at them, probably due to stress, And now as a result, it is a very slow process growing them back. So for today I thought I would share with you my daily routine of my make-up for my eyebrows.

It is not a very complicated or long process but I use the light matte brown colour in my MUA palette, Sorry but I do not know the name of the colour, and a Revlon angled brush to use as a base colour and get the shape right, Before then using Rimmel eyebrow pencil to darken it and fill in the rest.

Autumn make-up

Autumn is here with the cold, rain and those dark mornings everyone dreads, so I have decided to create this autumn look. This is something I would wear out for an evening look, or for everyday, I would pair the eyes with just some lip gloss/stain. With autumn I love deep burgundy colours as well as neutral warm brown colours. So for this look I created a warm brown glittery eye, a slight blush on the cheeks, and a deep burgundy lip.
